"Dancing" scores low with the viewers.
The ABC hit reality show, “Dancing With The Stars,” is set to wrap up before Thanksgiving. With that said, two double-eliminations have sped up the competition, sending four celebrities and their dance partners packing. The ratings, however, have not corresponded to the fire ABC is trying to ignite.
The latest victims, Michael Irvin and Mark Dacascos, had been improving and winning over the viewers’ hearts before being eliminated on Tuesday night. Irvin was sent home after scoring the lowest total points, while Dacascos lost in a 30-second dance-off against the third lowest scorer of the week, Aaron Carter. Carter, however, was in the bottom three due to a lack of viewer votes– he had scored a 29 out of 30 that week for his dance from the judges.
So who exactly is watching this show?

Dacascos goes back to his day job
According to USA Today, 11 percent less watched the first four episodes of this season than last season. More importantly, the 18-49 age demographic is down 24 percent from last year. This means that viewers who are more likely to be familiar with Mark Dacascos from “Iron Chef: America” and Aaron Carter from his teeny bop chart toppers aren’t casting their votes. As Carter continues to slip, he’s proving that even the judge’s high scores can’t pull anyone to the top of the competition.
R&B singer Mya, reality star Kelly Osbourne, model Joanna Krupa, pop singer Aaron Carter, and celebrity Donny Osmond are the competitors left as of Week 8 in the series. My guess is that Osmond has a clear path to the finish line with both the judges and the older, nostalgic viewers on his side.
